How to Wear

Floral Prints: How to Wear?

Let’s just say that you were to open your closet right now, what’s the chance that you will either have a floral dress, floral top, floral pants, a floral skirt or a floral jacket, even if you weren’t big on floral prints? It’s highly likely that at least you have one item!

There is a wide range of floral prints out there, from big and bright florals to small, soft floral prints. I love floral prints, but the key is always in how to wear it.

Style Inspiration

With floral print dresses, you don’t need to go big on accessories.

I find small floral prints ideal for country events, especially rustic themed weddings!

Floral Prints: Styling Tips

Although it is very common these days to mix all sorts of prints, I prefer not to. Instead, if I am wearing a floral outfit, I avoid introducing additional colours and textures.

Take this beautiful floral dress; which I bought from ASOS, as an example. There are two ways I wear it:

Black Floral Dress
I just love big, bold floral prints!
  • I wear it with black accessories to complement the main colour of the dress; or
  • I choose accessories that complement one of the other colours in the print, such as, pink or green.

Nude and metallic shoes generally work with any outfit; however, if you want to wear metallic or nude shoes, make sure your shoes complement your outfit. I wouldn’t wear the above floral dress with either nude or metallic accessories, it’s a little too much for me.

Conclusion

Floral prints are romantic and feminine and whether you love them or hate them, it’s worth having a floral dress, top or skirt in your wardrobe. For me, the key to ensuring that you look elegant in a floral outfit, is to wear accessories that match your dress or one of the colours in the print itself, and avoid adding more colours and textures.
