How to Create a Wedding Mood Board on Pinterest

  • Step 1: Establish your vision and mood. Think of how you want the day to feel.
  • Step 2: Gather ideas. This is where the fun of pinning images begins.
    • Log in to your Pinterest account and click the + sign at the bottom of your screen, if you’re using your mobile. Select board and give your board a name. You can either keep it private or share it with others.
    • Once you have created your board, you can now begin to pin images. In addition to wedding-related imagery, you’d want to include in your board typography, textures and patterns that fit in with your chosen theme.
    • Make sure to also include a color scheme. You can find color schemes on Pinterest that you can pin to your mood board. Otherwise, applications like Color & Palette offer a color palette based on an image of your choice.
  • Step 3: Edit. Consider the main elements that are non-negotiables in your theme. Remove anything that doesn’t fit in, or that isn’t working. Can you clearly visualise your Big Day? The overall feel of your wedding mood board needs to be a cohesive range of ideas that work well together.

Tip: When creating your wedding mood board, you don’t need to pin an image of every aspect of your wedding. Select a few images that fit in with your theme. Keeping photos to a minimum will help you avoid having numerous photos about the same concept, which might feel overwhelming.
