Hi!
My name is Olivia Khoury. I am a full-time Senior Editor, part-time Event Planner & Designer. I was born in Lebanon and moved to Australia in 2000. I hold a B.A. (Communications), a B.A. (Asian and International Studies) and a B.A. (Honours). I love going to mass, decorating for the holidays, transforming spaces, and designing with flowers.
The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.
I grew up in a family where fashion wasn’t just a passion, it was a family business. I have been blessed to have two fashion designers in the family, a personal stylist and a tailor. My favourite pastime was, and still is, to read fashion and interior design blogs and check out the latest in wedding inspiration. I loved watching personal makeover and home renovation shows.
I am drawn to all-things beauty and that’s what weddings and special events are for me!
When friends and colleagues had a wedding coming up, they often asked me to help them style their outfits, guest tables and create their wedding vision. They shared with me their ‘secret’ Pinterest wedding board or sent me photos of a mock-up of their centerpiece or asked for my opinion – they let me in on details they kept away from their closest family and friends. I felt privileged. This is how it all started for me. One step after another, I found myself decorating for the holidays, at home and the office and began to discover the impact that a beautiful space creates on people.
A beautifully decorated space sparks joy.
In 2019, I renovated my mother’s alterations shop front from a boring space that consisted of nothing but white walls and concrete flooring into a place that felt like a secret garden. I did my very first floral installation as part of the renovation and discovered that I had a passion for floral design and transforming spaces. In 2022, I became a certified wedding planner. I took a leap of faith and in 2023 started my own Event Planning & Design studio.
Weddings and special events are a spectacle of joy and beauty, but they can also be a challenge for all parties involved. From what to wear to how to create a wedding vision, I noticed the struggle women face when planning and designing an event. The struggle was more intense for women who had no one in their family to turn to for help with their styling decisions or if they could not afford to hire a event stylist or event planner. My goal is to empower women to style and decorate for their events by providing content, resources, and services they need to make their dream event a reality.
